Thanksgiving in N.Y.C.

This year Jeff and I decided to spend Thanksgiving in New York. We wanted to partake in all of the festivities the city has to offer.

The fun began early Thanksgiving morning at about 5:30. We wanted to get an early start for the Macy's Day Parade. Neither of us had ever seen the parade live so we knew attending it this year was a must. We found our spots around 7:00 and I held down the fort while Jeff picked up some hot chocolate and muffins. It was so fun talking with the people around us and hearing their stories about how they got to the parade. People come from all over to witness the parade in person. We all waited in anticipation for the first balloon to come into sight. It was so exciting!

Mr. Cee Lo Green was there.
The parade was an amazing experience, one we will never forget.

After the parade we made our way back to the apartment, I passed out for a few hours while Jeff watched some football. The plans for the evening consisted of visiting the 9/11 memorial and then dinner reservations at Sarabeth's.

The memorial was beautiful. It's still hard to imagine what happened here, all the lives that were lost. The grounds were peaceful, quiet and somber.
These are original beams from the towers.
This broke my heart.

After the memorial we walked over to Sarabeths. Jeff ordered the traditional Thanksgiving dinner while I enjoyed a filet minion. The food was amazing, restaurant quaint and great company.

(Doesn't he look like Superman here?!)

Thanks Mary! It was a great trip, I'm glad we did it! We explored multiple neighborhoods and are open to a few different ones. Our top choice is probably the Upper East Side in Manhattan but we'll see?!? We're planning a trip back in early February to search and hopefully find an apartment!!

Katie I think Thanksgiving in NYC with everyone next year is the best idea you've ever had!! The kids would have a ball at the parade. We thought about them multiple times while watching it! We should start planning the trip while we're all together for Christmas! :)
