Jinja.

after a full week of amazing volunteer work,
we planned a weekend of fun in jinja, uganda.
saturday, all of the volunteers took the two hour bus ride to jinja,
 for the best souvenir shopping!

after a great day of shopping the majority of the group went back to mbale.
two other volunteers and jeff and i, stayed in jinja for bungee jumping and rafting!
we stayed up late playing cards, eating candy and laughing non stop!

it was our first time bungee jumping and we were both terrified!
we thought if we're going to do this once, why not in africa over the nile river!
i was absolutely freaking out inside.
i got dipped in the river, that was quite a shock!
bungee jumping was amazing. we can't wait to go again!
minutes after we finished jumping, we got suited up to raft the nile.
these rapids were insane.
we survived a few class three, four and even five rapids.
at one point i honestly thought i was done for.
i was thrown from the raft and got trapped underneath it.
for what seemed like hours was only a minute or so in reality.
after i found my way out from under the raft,
i got caught under water in a washing machine effect wave.
i couldn't tell which way was up or down.
finally i broke free and a kayaker rescued me.
i was pretty shaky for a while and wanted to be safe on dry land.
jeff helped me calm down and i finished the other rapids.
this was by far the most exhilarating and dangerous thing i've ever done.
i'd go white water rafting again, but next time i'll avoid the class five rapids!
