One of my favorite things about living on the East Coast is the seemingly endless supply of fun places to visit.
We're trying to make the most of our time here and hope to explore the Northeast as much as possible.
Newport, RI ranked pretty high on our list of places to see.
so...
Friday afternoon we decided to book a hotel and rent a car to spend the weekend in Newport!
We took off the next morning at 7am!
Our good friends, Eric & Shayly joined in on the fun.
After the short 3hr drive we arrived in Newport, hungry and ready for brunch.
We found a little gem called The Corner Cafe.
They have THE best omelets and french toast.
We loved it so much, we came back the next morning for more!
then we checked into our hotel.
Shayly is pregnant with her first and she is glowing!
Pregnancy looks good on her! :)
We spent the afternoon walking along the Cliff Walk, it was so beautiful!
The Cliff Walk is a 3.5 mile path along the coast and mansions.
We couldn't get enough of the fresh ocean breeze, bright blue water and the warm sunshine.
Oh, how I've missed the sunshine!
Our favorite part of the trip was touring the Newport Mansions.
Some of America's most powerful families owned what they called their "summer cottages".
The Vanderbilt's owned the Breakers and The Marble House.
We toured the inside of these breathtaking mansions and were in awe the entire time.
We had no idea homes like this existed in America.
Walls were lined with 22 carrot gold and whole mansions made of marble, still can't believe it!
I snuck a few pictures inside the Breaker's Mansion and The Marble House.
(couldn't resist!)
Sunday afternoon we took a drive along Ocean Drive.
Please ignore the extreme cheesiness going on in the next few photos... ha!
We had so much fun with the Levesque's.
Love you guys!
