Coney Island.

As of late the weather here has been terribly hot and humid. Jeff and I thought a day at the beach would be the best way to escape the heat. We slept in Saturday morning and took a 45 minute subway to Coney Island. I was so looking forward to seeing the talked about landmark. We got there around 1:00pm and it was so packed! I'm used to the calm, quiet, empty beaches in Florida. This was not the case here. Little did we know there was the annual "Mermaid Parade" taking place on the boardwalk at 2:00pm. They estimated a half a million people would attend the parade, not including the beach goers. As you can imagine it was a mad house! Memo to self: Always check for potential parades at the beaches before we attend. Although it was a little crazy we still had such a fun day. We tried the famous "Nathan's" hot dogs, watched some of the Mermaid Parade, walked through the theme park and relaxed on the beautiful beach.
